About the Whiteface Mountain Field Trip:
We’re excited to offer a field experience at this year’s meeting. Our hosts at the New York State Mesonet have planned a trip to Whiteface Mountain Observatory located in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains on Friday, July 25th following the AASC Mesonet Meeting. This is an optional field trip, with lunch provided by Campbell Scientific. The Observatory is about 2.5 hours away from Albany (one way), so we’re reserving group transportation for anyone who needs transportation for the field trip. There will be a small fee ($25) for the group transportation option, which you can purchase above.
The 2025 AASC Mesonet Community Meeting is no longer accepting abstracts for the 2025 meeting.

Please note that the summit of Whiteface is in the alpine zone and can experience extreme conditions (wind, cold, cloud cover, etc.). Be sure to bring a rain jacket, a warm layer, water, and comfortable walking shoes.
Lastly, the Toll Road to the summit gets within 500ft of the summit. A tunnel and elevator can be used to get to the summit observatory from the parking lot, or you can hike along an exposed ¼ mile long trail.
