Mission
The primary mission of the Alaska Climate Research Center is to respond to inquiries concerning the meteorology and climatology of Alaska from public, private, and government agencies, and from researchers around the world. The center provides services within the three-tiered system (state, regional, and federal). Most climatological data available for Alaska have been accumulated in Fairbanks and by the State Climatologist in Anchorage at the Alaska State Climate Center. The Alaska Climate Research Center archives digital climate records, develops climate statistics, and writes monthly weather summaries, which are published in several newspapers around the state and Weatherwise magazine. Services are provided free of charge if the request is for a small amount of data. The Center also conducts research on a number of high latitude meteorological & climatological topics and provides useful links for related data. It is part of the Geophysical Institute at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

Weather Data: The Alaska State Climate Center provides both unofficial and certified weather data for select Alaska stations. Through agreements with the National Climate Data Center and the Western Regional Climate Center, the Alaska State Climate Center provides climate data to researchers and the public.

Publications: The Climate Center is the source for a collection of climatological summaries and publications. The Climate Center has, in the past, published several studies of Alaskan climate. The Climate Center web page contains a detailed list of publications and their availablity.
